The Power of Positive Thinking

So I don’t want to call this a success story just yet but I do want to call it the beginning of many successes in my life story. I can always remember being told when I was a little girl that there is a secret to life and that I would never know what that ‘secret’ was until I met God.
Well, to me that hardly seemed fair. What good would it be for me to know the secret to life when I was dead? In my completely irrational adolescent mind the entire idea that had been given to me made absolutely no sense and I couldn’t accept it. I just couldn’t believe that I was supposed to wait until I was dead to learn how to live.
Now I’m not saying that as a child I reached to find the answers to life’s complex questions or that I spent my playtime in deep philosophical debates on the playground, but I never forgot that I disagreed with all of my elders.
As I grew, and continue to grow, my life went through peaks and valleys, highs and lows. The peaks became few and far between while the valleys seemed to become a little too frequent for comfort. But the eye opening moment didn’t come until I had my daughter. I married her father, which was not the wisest choice, and things just spiraled out of control from there. I think that’s when I caught a glimpse of Hell on earth. At every turn there was some kind of hardship and the valley became the norm. I was so convinced that I had no control over my life that I let my husband abuse me mentally and physically. I really thought that it was my job, my duty, my purpose in life to accept misery and cope with it. All of the adults that I knew lived life this way! It was normal to be poor. It was normal to be unhealthy. It was normal to struggle. It was normal to complain. It was normal to be unhappy! Life was summed up as bills that could never be paid, marriages that were more work than fun, having a passionless job just to scrape by, and accepting that the lifestyle that I wanted was unobtainable!
One day not so long ago, I decided that enough was enough. If I had to work my fingers to the bone to have more than just barely what I wanted that was fine, but there would be no more suffering in any other aspect. I committed myself to elevate myself through an education. I didn’t decide that just for my benefit but for my daughter’s as well. I never wanted her to think that it was okay to sleep on a couch in someone’s living room or to go from home to home. No, not my baby.
I don’t know how or why I stumbled across this video. I wasn’t doing anything but adding movies to my instant ques on Netflix. I don’t even know why it was a suggestion but it’s not my job to know why. All I need to know is that it happened and that my life will never be the same.
The first time I watched it was at three o’clock in the morning. I couldn’t sleep and it was a random choice. I bawled like a baby. I cried and cried because the answer I had always been looking for, the answer that I had so desperately needed, crept up behind me and slapped me on the back of the head. The Secret has and always will be the Law of Attraction. That’s it. There is no other answer that you need. Think about it. Why does life have to be so bad? Why is that normal? It’s not! It never has been normal to be unhappy. We just accept it as being the way it is and keep running on our little mouse wheels. We don’t ask why, we just do because that’s what everyone else does.
You sit there day after day complaining and feeling bitter and you do nothing but attract more misery into your life. You might as well hang a sign on your front door that says, “Misery On Tap 24/7”. Until you change the way you think your life will always be that way.
I put to practice everything that I had learned from watching the video and what I had learned from meditation. I didn’t start out huge, I went with really small things. The first thing that I attracted was a parking spot. My father is a major skeptic. I told him the exact spot that I wanted in a parking lot and he laughed. We were in what was probably the busiest parking lot on a Sunday afternoon but I didn’t care. I asked. I believed. And I promise you that I received. I’ll never forget the look on his face or the feeling that I got.
The next thing was a check in the mail. Now granted I didn’t get a check in the mail per se, but I did get a check. It was from my last employer and it had been sent in the mail, but it had gotten lost. It found its way to me in the most peculiar way but that doesn’t matter. There have been other things but I don’t think I need to list everything. All I’m here to do is to tell you that this works. Change the way you think and believe. A coincidence is never to be ignored because it isn’t just a coincidence. It is your mind manifesting your desires. My life is different. I feel different and in a beautiful way. That alone makes this process worth it. I want you to remember this phrase that you’ve heard before and never forget it: Thoughts become things.
Anything that was ever invented or created was a thought that was a desire and the people that had these thoughts manifested what they desired. The law applies to everyone, especially you. Use it. If you’ve gotten this far and have somehow ended up reading this post, then you are well on your way and everything want is simply waiting for you. Don’t let this opportunity slip away because of doubt.
I wish you the best and many years of abundant happiness and success!
