Where do I start? After watching this movie, I was able to have a better understanding of my life and why I was able to accomplish what I have. As a young African American father and husband without a college degree, I have always heard that I was doomed.
In 2005, I was signing all of my city league football team certificates in the coaches section while my mom sat next to me and I remember making the comment to her that one day, I will be sitting down signing books for fans that I wrote and she just laughed.
In 2007, I have a picture of my mom standing beside me at my first ever book signing as a new author. My life just took all sorts of turns after that because I saw myself being the program director of the juvenile facility that I had been at working for over 9 years. People said because I had long locks that it could not be, but I believed it and I achieved it without a college degree. I later took on some speaking gigs and challenged myself because I felt so powerful in the area of speaking things into existence.
I told my brother over the phone that I wanted to make 1,000 dollars for speaking only 30 minutes, and because I believed it, two weeks later I was called by a youth abstinence company out of Tallahassee Fla. in regards to me speaking for them, and because it was short notice, they would double what I normally charge them.
So later on that same night, my brother received a picture text of a 1,000 dollar check from a young African American father and husband without a college degree. I have since then written another book and acquired several contracts with high end companies all because I am grateful for what I have, I believe in my gifts, I believe in God, I monitor carefully what I allow to enter into my mind through hearing and seeing. I can go on and on, but it will take up so much space, so I will stop here. Thanks for reading—Peace & Ubuntu, Merv www.kingsqueens.org.
