This story is about the wonderful matrix and path laid out for our family and using the “cues” that the power of love laid out for us and one very special chihuahua puppy named “Bear”.

Our chihuahua, Bella, had a litter of six puppies, we already have 4 dogs: 3 chihuahuas and a white boxer…so we were patiently waiting for the days our new puppies would be ready to have loving homes out of our home…and also as one of our sons suffers from allergies and was having some very bad allergy symptoms related to the new litter of puppies that we had to keep indoors as they had not had their shots…

Our cues began as my oldest son, his best friend, and I began volunteering at our local animal shelter. During our first visit in May, I noticed a poster on the board that had a photo of one of our priests and a lost chihuahua. That sign just really got to me and felt the sadness that a lost pet can trigger. We have visited the shelter each week. Each week I saw the sign and wondered if the dog had been found or if they had a new dog.

Meanwhile, the puppies were ready for a new home and we had a yard sale. All, but one of our puppies sold. Our little “Bear” was left with us. In addition, we had our neice and nephews visiting from Mexico and they kept saying that we should not sell “Bear”. We knew we could not keep him. We have 2 males already and it would be nearly impossible to introduce another male to our pack without some difficulty.

After our yard sale, at Sunday Mass, father mentioned that the other priest (the one in the lost dog poster) would be giving 9 am mass the next day, July 4, so he could rest for the holiday. Our family was planning to just rest on this day…I would finally have time to visit the priest and ask him about the dog…My mind began to put together the “clues”: The poster, the unsold puppy, the time to ask the priest about the missing dog…

The next morning I got up early…and put bear into the car, drove to church and was “lucky” enough to find father before he began mass. He motioned me through the church to the back and admired our puppy. He told me that in actuality, the missing dog in the poster was NOT his, but a dear friend, who happened to be a member of our church and a decon. Their dog had never been found and had left a large “hole” in their family. He told me that he would call the decon and his wife after mass to ask him if they would like to see our puppy.

At home, our son’s allergies were worsening to the point that he needed to be out of the house for any relief. I felt only love and thankfulness that this marvelous path had been laid out for us and knew with all my heart that we would find a beautiful home for Bear. Sure enough, as soon as we returned from our trip to the movies, we received a phone call from our priest. They would love to see the puppy and would be able to come after lunch for a visit. What a miricle!

The decon, his wife and daughter arrived with our priest and visited with Bear and asked questions. They explained that they had hoped with all their hearts to find thier dog, but months had passed and nothing. They were also going to Spain and had planned to get another dog when they returned, but decided that Bear would be a perfect addition to their family and knew that our priest would help them care for Bear in their absense.

Bear went home with them that very day, yesterday. I am so thankful and feel that our family has been blessed…also our little dog…that found a wonderful loving home only 2 days after the rest of his brothers and sisters! My son’s allergies will soon start to clear now that we have homes for all the puppies.

What I love about this story the most is that I NEVER would have noticed this poster but for the face of our priest…who only appeard there becasue it was the best picture that the family had of thier beloved pet!

The power of Love speaks to us every day and leaves us clues and cues if we only would listen and think how they apply to us.
