Turning my life around
Submitted by: Janet Y.
Uppsala, SwedenA year ago I quit my job, I was all worn out and my life and finances were in a mess. I had thought that the job was leading me along the right path after my graduation. After seven months of wallowing in self pity I came a cross The Secret. I had seen parts of it before a couple of years prior, but it never quite attached to me back then. Now I was glued to the screen, bought the book and downloaded the audio as well. I began to ponder what I really wanted in life.
First I wanted financial stability, secondly a job that was free from the stress my previous job had entailed. Thirdly I wanted to be accepted and employed as a Ph.D. student. I created a vision board with notes about my upcoming job that would give me financial stability, notes on unexpected income and the business card I would be using as a Ph.D. student.
Within two weeks I was at my first job interview for the only position I had applied for. I just knew I would get the job, and I did. I was to start after the holidays. During the time I waited to start my new job I contacted my old professor friend to see if she wanted to support my application for a Ph.D. I got an enthusiastic answer where she indicated that she had just been thinking of me and how I should give it another go. I had not been in contact with her for over 2 years!
My previous employer had not been paying my salary properly but after I started applying The Secret the pay checks kept rolling in. Now I was receiving two pay checks each month as I had also started my new job.
Now I have realized that I want to be on the academic path for the rest of my life, becoming a professor myself one day. I know I will be and yesterday I was accepted and employed as a Ph.D. student. I am so happy and grateful now that I have the tools to make all my dreams come true. Thank you!
