Goals Became Reality.
Submitted by: Debo
California, USYou know how they say when the student is ready, the teacher appears? Well, I had noticed this a few times in my life. Once, when I was ready to get out of depression, a book came to me titled “What To Say When You Talk To Yourself.” I devoured the book, and created self-talk tapes that I listened to. I wrote down goals and time frames I wanted to see them completed in and it was insane. Me and my family watched my life transform in front of me. I first started to tell myself that money came to me quickly and easily. I literally was offered small jobs 2-3 times a week. I could make my own schedule, and I was literally finding $20 and $50 bills on the ground!!! My boyfriend was shocked and couldn’t believe this small affirmation was helping. At first, these tapes sounded like lies, but you know they say repetition is the father of learning. So after a few weeks of repeating these affirmations, they became truth for me. I had told myself for years I just couldn’t move out of my parents house because I was too broke. After affirmations and believing, everything became reality. In 90 days, I had moved out of parents house to be with my then boyfriend whom I was missing from a long term relationship. I got a steady job, and I started school for herbalism!!! In less than 120 days, all my goals manifested.
After being in L.A for a few years, I stopped doing my daily affirmations. I wasn’t happy in my relationship, my job, or my living situation, and although I wanted so badly at the time to fix things, my then boyfriend didn’t. At my mother-in-law’s house one day, the book The Secret” was laying out. I read it, found the movie, watched it, and realized it was everything “What to Say When You Talk To Yourself” was, plus the added bonus of feeling what you want to see, and visualizing it.
I decided to leave and to know that things would get better for me. I didn’t know how, I just knew they would. I didn’t know where I was going to live, where I was going to work, or who would love me for me after that. I just trusted that things would work themselves out. I gave my boss a 2 week notice without having another job lined up, I gave my apartment manager a 30 day notice of vacating the premises without having a place to go, and told my then boyfriend I wasn’t happy and was finally leaving the relationship. When I finally let go of everything that wasn’t serving me, and accepted that I deserved happiness, everything happened.
Within 48 hours of putting in my notice at work, I was interviewed and offered a job. Within 1 week, a friend offered me to house-sit for her in her beach house while leaving town until the end of the month. Another friend who just to happened to be leaving for vacation for 1 month offered me to rent her beach bungalow out for a month beginning the new month! The Universe aligned everything for me and all I had to do was trust. After 8 years, a break-up wasn’t easy, neither was leaving my first home we created together. Neither was leaving my steady job that I was unhappy at. But I did it! Life got so good. Not only did I get a new job, but was promoted to Department Manager within 4 weeks and offered Assistant Manager at my yoga studio instead of free yoga for work! My income increased by $1400 per month in less than 6 weeks.
I visualized sleeping in my own bed, in a spacious room with wood floors and lots of sunlight in a neighborhood a 15 min bike ride from the beach in a big comfy bed. In another 6 weeks, I had everything I visualized. I moved into a beautiful home with amazing roommates, a 15 min bike ride from the beach, a big bedroom with wood floors and 3 windows with plenty of sunshine, garden space, and a large kitchen!!! Everything I wanted!
I thank all the people out there who know the power of visualizations, positive self-talk, gratitude, and writing down goals and making boards. I share the power of self-talk with anyone willing to listen and try, and recommend the movie as well as vision boards. Thanks to the team of The Secret! That attitude of gratitude really works.
