My son had an accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. When I arrived at the hospital, the nurse said your son is going to die. She said that from her 19 years of experience in the medical field, she had never saw an injury such as this one, usually seen in motorcycle accidents.
My sons skull was cracked and according to the hospital officials, parts of the skull were missing. So, after discussing the options and they were all bad, it was agreed that he would be put into a coma and and his body would be put on ice until the swelling went down. After six weeks of being in a self induced coma, it was time to bring him out.
I never broke down and cried or went crazy when told I was going to lose my son. When I felt myself getting weak, I always thought of the law of attraction and I refused to attract the death spirit. I raised the blinds in the hospital room and put on gospel music and my sons brain pressure always decreased.
On the day my son was to come out of the coma, the hospital had a family meeting first to let us know what to expect and when it would happen. My family and I were praying constantly. Before going into the conference with the doctor, I put my sons picture on the table and I lit 3 candles for “the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I also surrounded his picture with his 2 other brothers, his deceased grandparents and me and his dad. When the doctor came in the family conference the first thing he said is that I pray over my hands before I touch my patients. He said I am bringing your son out the the coma today and he will wake up on Thursday. It will be a long recovery as he will have to learn to do everything again. The doctor showed us a picture on the computer of my sons skull and it only had a hairline crack in it. He said the dark area is where the brain damage is. It looked like a piece of black thread around his head. So I looked at my sister and said this can not be my sons skull because his is all cracked up and she says, just shut up girl, God fixed it. The doctor told us that my son would go to a rehabilitation facility that takes patients with trachs and feeding tubes.
When my son woke up on Thursday I still had joy in my heart. He woke but really did not recognize us. He had the trach in his throat. Finally to get some relief I went home to take a shower. My cell phone rang with a hospital number on it and I answered it. l heard tapping on that phone, then the phone hung up. I called the nurses station ASAP. They said the call came from my son’s room. I rushed back to the hospital and he had remembered my cell number but could not talk with the trach in his throat.
His recovery was nothing short of a miracle. He went to the rehabilitation facility at Riverside Hospital for high functioning patients. He had a talking module put on the trach in 5 days and he walked 2 days after he woke up on his own. Soon the speaking module was removed along with the feeding tube. He was in rehab a short 3.5 weeks and released with no health problems.
Everyone was so amazed! When people ask where my strength came from, I would say 2 places. My faith in God and I watch The Secret at least 3 times a week and it has literally changed every aspect of my life.
