You make your own luck!
Submitted by: Shawn K
Columbia MOI am a licensed Acupuncturist.
Ive been working with The Secret for over a year now, and have had results, but I still hadnt really put The Secret into practice for myself in my day-to-day life. I kept putting The Secret on a pedestal as though it were something to use for big outlandish goals and life dreams, but not for day-to-day stuff. In the past I had seen the day-to-day as just a matter of luck. After today, I KNOW for a fact you make your own luck!
This morning, on a whim of divine inspiration, I got up and made a list of affirmations on how I wanted my day to go. The reason that I did this was that I knew I was going to have to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles to get a new drivers license, and new plates for my car, since Id just moved. With a grin on my face I thought, If The Secret works on the DMV, it MUST be universal law.
Here are the affirmations that I typed up, printed out, and kept re-reading to myself all day.
Everything I do today will go easily and effortlessly.
I have plenty of time! Everything I need or want to do goes smoothly.
I am always in the right place at the right time.
All the people I meet are helpful, and give me the inside scoop.
I always end up in the fastest line.
Practically every light I see is green.
I always get the best deal on things incredible bargains find me.
Somehow, I always end up with rock star parking.
Im always and effortlessly ahead of every deadline.
Whatever I want or need in life just shows up made to order and perfect for me.
As I sit here writing this, I plainly see that every single one of these affirmations came true in a spectacular way!
Rather than my usual habit of tapping my foot impatiently and asking, Are you ready to go yet? I just read and had a cup of tea while my wife got ready this morning. I even told her to take her time she looked at me as though Id been into the liquor cabinet, but said nothing. I just kept telling myself that we had plenty of time, and smiled to myself.
We drove to the DMV, parked in front of the front door, and both walked out with brand new drivers licenses in less than twenty minutes. We got done so quickly, in fact, that we decided to go out to lunch to celebrate before moving on to the vehicle inspection we needed to do. So, we drove downtown through nothing but green lights, and pulled into a parking space right in front of a restaurant that wed been wanting to try. The meter still had thirty minutes left on it. We had arrived at ten to noon, just before the lunch crowd arrived, and our food was out in a flash. We were already eating when the lunch rush started. We left after a leisurely meal, smiling at everyone as we left.
Then we consulted our list of State-approved vehicle inspection providers. We had a list of over 40 mechanics that were approved, but being new to town we didnt really know where any of them were located. My wife did have an idea where one location was, on the other side of town, so we decided to go with that. After driving through every green light in town we arrived on the business loop and immediately saw a mechanic approved to do the inspection not the one wed been looking for, but one much closer. Our trip had taken ten minutes.
My wife got her car inspected and her oil changed for less than half of what we would have paid back in our old home town. After having a great time laughing with the mechanic, we drove home and got my car and went back to get my car done. This time, my car didnt pass inspection. There was something wrong with the exhaust. I had noticed that my car had sounded throatier for awhile, and that my gas mileage had gone down. I started to feel some doubt creeping in, but quickly got out my affirmations and read through them. The repairs were done while we waited, and cost less than two hundred dollars. I got a great deal, and I plan to go back to this mechanic in the future!
As fantastic as all of this was, it wasnt the most miraculous part of today. One of my affirmations was, ‘I am always in the right place at the right time’…
While we were at the DMV, I sat down and smiled at the man sitting next to me waiting in line to get his license. As he was leaving, I noticed that hed left his cell phone in his chair. I jumped up, and chased him down in the parking lot. He thanked me so sincerely that Im sure hes one of those people who live out of their phones. I walked back into the DMV feeling like a million bucks.
Just as we were driving into the parking space by the restaurant, I saw a woman lose her scarf in the wind. As my wife parked, I jumped out of the car and grabbed her scarf. I chased her down as she was getting ready to pull out of her parking space. She told me that she had been rushing back to her car to avoid getting a parking ticket and hadnt noticed losing her scarf. The meter attendant had let her off with a warning. She was very grateful, and drove off with a huge smile on her face. By now I was starting to feel a little dazed. But it wasnt over yet.
A girl getting her oil changed left her scarf in the chair in the waiting room, and my wife caught up with her to give it to her. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.
Tomorrow, Im going to get up and plan my day again. I cant wait to see what happens!
