When I first listened to The Secret, I realized there were ways I’d used the Law of Attraction in the past. For instance, when I was in law school I decided early on that I was going to graduate with honors – and I did, despite a rocky start. And a couple of years ago, I was (miraculously) able to get my daughter into a certain school, despite a long waiting list, and despite the high tuition, somehow “found” enough money, when a generous relative stepped forward out of the blue and offered to partially fund her education.

In the past few months, though, I’ve been listening to the audiobook during my commute, and I’ve started putting The Secret to work for me.

We’ve been wanting a big screen HDTV. It wasn’t quite in the budget yet – we try not to use credit and save for everything – but I was putting aside a little money every payday. Last night, my daughter’s school had its annual fund-raising auction, and the grand raffle prize was a 52″ Sony HDTV. Last year, we didn’t participate in the raffle. My husband thought $100 was way too much to pay for a raffle ticket, even though there was a 1:10 chance of winning something. But this year, I was at the auction by myself. I’d already won a session at summer camp for my daughter at the auction, for a very discounted price, so I was feeling really generous and decided to buy a raffle ticket. As I bought the ticket, I had a flash vision of myself and another person loading the big TV, which was sitting there in front of me in a crate, into our minivan late that night.

Every time I thought about that TV later in the evening, I’d chuckle to myself and picture putting it in the van in my head.

Late in the evening, I was volunteering at check-out, running credit card transactions on the computer, when the auction chairman came up to me and told me I’d won the TV. Apparently, they’d just announced it inside and I hadn’t heard.

I am floored!!! And yes, a couple of friends helped me get it into the minivan at around midnight.
