I was born and brought up in a patriarchal society, and none of the women in my family had been formally educated beyond a high school degree. My Mother was fortunate enough to marry a man who encouraged her dreams of pursuing a career after marriage, and together they educated me to be the first woman with a college degree in my family.
When it came time to apply for college, my Mother and I had watched “The Secret video on YouTube and we wrote on a notecard that I would gain admission into Parsons School of Design. After 3 months of looking at the notecard every day, I received an unconditional acceptance to attend the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York.
Unfortunately, my Mother passed away 1 month after I began college, but as a tribute to my Mother, I decided to create another notecard in which I wrote that I would:
– Graduate as Valedictorian.
– Summa Cum Laude honors.
– Be on the Dean’s List for every semester.
– Give the Commencement Speech.
When I created the notecard, I thought it would be almost impossible to achieve any of the items on my list considering the depression that I had fallen into after my Mother’s passing. However, after looking at the notecard every day for 3 years, it came true and I did graduate at the top of the class as the Valedictorian with Summa Cum Laude honours, and Dean’s List recognition for all 6 semesters. I even gave the Commencement Speech in May 2014 to an audience of 6,000 people at Madison Square Garden. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxl9dKCBgsY
The Secret works, and seeing your goals written down in front of you on a daily basis helps to manifest them into a living reality subconsciously.
