This is a little involved, so I apologize for its length.
My husband and I have been married for more than a decade. We’re both veterans, he’s a mortician and I’m a firefighter. It always seemed, though, that no matter what we did, or how hard we worked, we couldn’t get ahead. We ended up living with my parents with all of our kids. My mother is a hoarder, my dad deals with clinical depression, and I was raised in a very negative household.

My husband is also a depressed person. He had been on anti-depressants for several months and they were helping, but we all still had a negative mindset. “We’ll never get ahead.” “If we have any luck at all, it’s bad luck.” Those phrases constantly repeated themselves in our heads.

By April 2019, I was working a full-time job, 48 hours straight and 96 hours off. Those are common hours for firefighters in my country but I also worked two part-time jobs each 24 hours. I was wearing myself out and my kids were not doing well with me being gone 4 days straight.

My husband went to school during this time and got a job, but even with his specialized degree and skill set, he was only earning $13 an hour with no benefits.

By May, I was having extreme anxiety attacks and nightmares. I had put on almost 25 pounds of fat. I had been a competitive athlete, so that was hard.

It was obvious that something had to give. I had watched The Secret before but never put the principles into practice. It was weighing on my mind to watch it again, and I finally convinced my husband to watch it, too.

By the end of it, we were believers. We immediately, and I mean immediately, put the principles into action. I’m not exaggerating when I say within 48 hours my husband had 3 job offers, all double his current pay, with commission and benefits on top!

We are now about to move states, we’re approved for a home loan for the first time ever, we’re caught up on our bills, and we are both so much more aware of what we’re sending out into the Universe. Our entire household is happier and enriched, and not just financially. Our relationship is better and our relationship with our kids is much healthier.
