Before and after reading The Secret

When was six it was discovered that I had a gift for words.
My writing was like nothing you had ever heard.
By the age of six.
Poetry was my first addictive fix.
My father died by the age of nine.
I never knew him, we had no time.
By thirteen alcohol took over.
By sixteen drugs were my lover.
My uncle died the day I got out of drug and alcohol treatment.
I thought it was for him I sobered for that moment.
By nineteen I was drinking again.
Most of the time putting to bed the old men.
At twenty my world came crashing down.
My brother found in the Niagara Gorge dead on the ground.
From that day on I drank my life away.
After losing my brother I had no reason to stay.
Shortly after I married his best friend on the most magical day.
For a short time our drinking went a rye.
at twenty five I was told I was dying.
I sobered up and got my body clean.
My kidneys failing was telling, to my body I was mean.
I quickly bounced back and fixed myself.
My sober husband and I moved into a cute little house.
A year later baby Melodee on the way.
We bought a house on her first birthday.
On the day Nik Wallenda walked over the Niagara Falls.
Baby Mia was in my tummy very new and small.
Recently we went for broke.
Every time I looked in my account I would choke.
Which brings us to the present day.
I am grateful in every beautiful way.
My business grows with love and ease.
No longer do I worry.
I always have an abundance of money.
My book Can You Hear It? is an incredible depiction of Canadian history.
My next book is going to be a best seller.
