The wisdom of a six year old
Submitted by: Christina Koff
Santa Barbara, CAI was going to watch my friends’ children for a couple of hours, when upon leaving Bill put on The Secret for me to watch. He said that the kids were napping and that he felt watching it would really change my life. After they left I sat down to watch The Secret and my six year old daughter came into the room. Not thinking she would be interested in watching it I told her she could go play in her friend’s room while I watched The Secret. I noticed that during the movie my daughter kept popping her head in and would stop to watch bits and pieces. When my friends got home, Bill asked me what I had thought of the Secret. I told them how much I enjoyed it and that it was a positive affirmation of the way I try to live my life and what I believe. The next day I was telling another good friend of mine about watching The Secret and how he too should watch it. He asked “Well, what IS the Secret?” Just then my daughter whispered, “I watched part of it and I know what the secret is”. She had spoken as if I might get upset that she watched something that she wasn’t sure she was supposed to. I turned to her and told her it was okay that she watched it and then asked ” What is the secret then Kayla?” What she said next took my by surprise. “It’s the law of ‘traction Mommy. Just like when I really want something, I think about and think about and I get it or it happens because I kept thinking about it.” I was amazed that a six year old child could get so much from just a few moments of the movie. I told her that if she wanted to watch the whole movie I would go buy a copy. Her eyes lit up and she told me she wanted to. She now continues to tell people that she knows the secret and proudly tells them what it is. I have had a couple of adults look at me with a quizzical expression as if to say “Is what she is saying for real?” And as if reading their face, my daughter looks at them and says “I am serious, watch the movie!”
