The Secret Helped Me Get My Ideal Job.
Submitted by: Aish S
Jersey CityTransformed my life by relearning The Secret and all it has to offer. I have changed my whole perspective as a result and am super grateful for all I have.
First off, I am super thankful to Rhonda for bringing The Secret out into the world and so glad I picked it up again after many years.
I had previously used The Secret without really knowing I was, to get my previous job. The initial days in my old job were great. I had an amazing manager, mentor, and colleagues and loved what I did. However, over time, due to organizational changes, my team got reshuffled and unfortunately, it wasn’t the same anymore. It was the same colleagues but the overall environment was not great. I used to work as a contractor, which means that my term can end whenever the company I work for wishes to terminate it.
I had been looking for a job for some time but I also felt I lacked the drive needed to actively do it. But I knew the exact job I wanted to work in my desired field. I wanted to work in a start-up, with a flexible remote option, lots of growth opportunities, and a close knit team that was passionate about the company, just to list a few.
All of a sudden, the worst came to pass. I was given a month’s notice that my contract term was ending. I was devastated, but as a believer in The Secret, I believed that this was meant to happen so that I could put more effort into my job search and get exactly what I wanted. During my entire job search process, I envisioned exactly what I wanted in my new role, and its location too. I wanted my job to be in NYC, which means I don’t need a car. So in preparation to sell my car, I did not renew my car’s registration and cancelled all my warranties.
I came across a posting on LinkedIn for a company based in Brooklyn. It had everything I wanted in a role. Something inside me pushed me to send a message to one of the company executives, who connected me with the hiring manager. I was asked to interview formally and went through 4 rounds with different company folks. During this whole time, I focused on being happy, really knowing myself, and being confident of my capabilities. I started imagining my commute to work, what my workstation would be like, and what my overall job expectations are.
My roommate also works for a start-up so I would love to hear her stories and the bond she had with her colleagues. I wanted that for me too. I started thinking about the role, and how I could contribute, and in a sense, I journaled my role. Even after my contract at my old company ended, I would still stick to my old routine, by waking up in time for the office, applying for jobs, taking additional courses.
And finally, I received a call saying that I was to be offered the job! It had all the benefits I looked for, from salary to other compensation. And the location was exactly where I wanted. I look forward to selling my car soon as well, and cannot wait to start my new role.
I truly believe everything culminates into something good if you truly believe it does. Imagine what you want, smile, let it go, and get on with your day. It just shows how much you trust that the Universe is working in the background to get you what you want. I am truly grateful for all that I have and I am always so thankful. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you so much!
