I am 17 and you might think I am too young to know about The Secret but I actually have been using it since I was younger without even realizing it.

I was born in Romania and I lived there for the first 16 years of my life. Ever since I can remember I dreamed about living in the United States. I was only 10 when I told my parents I want to go to college at UCLA in the USA.

Everybody thought my dream was impossible because there is no way you can get a green card from Romania without paying incredible amounts of money. I never knew how I was going to end up in America but I remember I thought about it obsessively for years. I would go to sleep thinking about me walking down the streets of New York. When I listened to music I would close my eyes and imagined myself taking the first step on American soil. Even when my family or my friends were talking about my future in Romania, somewhere in the back of my mind I knew they were wasting their time because I was not going to live there.

About 2 years ago my parents randomly applied to a Diversity Visa Program, which is basically a green card lottery for people outside the US. I looked up online the chances of a family of 3 from Romania to win this lottery. The chances were less than 1%. But I put my faith in that 1% and I believed.

6 months later we found out that we won!!

I have been living in America for about 10 months now and I still can’t believe my dream came true. Again, I did not even know about The Secret when I was that young. But I had faith and somehow it came true. I sometimes can’t realize that it actually happened.

It took some years but the most important things you need are hope, faith and positivity. If you truly believe in your dream it will come true. My dream had less than 1% chances but somehow it came true.
