I have been using The Secret off and on for years. At the end of 2009, I had the worst breakup ever with a boyfriend I had been seeing for two years. He cheated on me and I literally spent 2 weeks in a devastated state. After that, I went on a trip with all my girls for New Years Eve and decided that I was going to make 2010 the best year of my life…and with that, I decided that I was going to make sure I found the love of my life within the year.

I realized that every relationship I had until that point were such dead-end relationships because I never had any real standards. So I made a list of all the nitpicky standards and things I wanted in a guy and saved it to my computer. Then I went on living life, enjoying being single and dating around. An opportunity to study abroad in London with my school came up and I immediately jumped at the chance. I realized that before I would not have done it because I would rather be close to my boyfriend and not want to leave him, but since I was single I should do something outside of my normal comfort zone and go.

Everyone thought I was so random and crazy for going for six weeks and would constantly ask me why I was going to London. I would literally reply, “To meet the love of my life.” It was such a joke that I didn’t really know if it was possible, but I expected to meet some guys there at least.

When I got to London, I went three weeks without talking to any guys that looked appealing to me. Then all of a sudden, one day I was walking through the Theatre district buying tickets for an upcoming play and I saw the hottest guy ever. I would have NEVER in my life gone up to him and talked to him, but after staring at him for 15 minutes as I walked around the streets, and then thinking I lost him and walking into a store, I saw him standing across the store staring at me. I knew then that if I didn’t go say something to him I’d regret it forever (which was so weird at the time). I ended up walking up to him and we stood there talking for an hour in the middle of the day as if we had known each other all our lives. We exchanged numbers and that evening we talked on the phone for four hours. The next day we had a magical date at Hyde Park, and the day after that he took me to Big Ben and Westminster at night…it was like a dream.

I lived this dream for three weeks until the moment I left London. I realized the day before I left that he was everything I ever wanted in a guy and now we are making our long distance relationship work. He is coming to see me in America in the winter and already booked his vacation time! Now all I dream about is our wedding, a nice ring and living in London for the long haul. This has been the best summer and year of my life so far, and it’s all because I put it out there and believed.

I know with The Secret, this is totally reality and that my dreams just managed to come true.
