Two months ago, I was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, a partial facial paralysis that affects one side of your face. In my case, the right side. I was out of work for 5 weeks, since I work with the public face to face, and I was not able to speak clearly.

My husband receives disability benefits, and his check is not enough to cover all the bills. When I finally received the email from Short Term Disability, it was approved, but with no pay, since I don’t have a year with the company yet. We entered in panic mode, stressing about the situation, to the point that we used to argue at least twice a day.

We thought to split, sell everything in the apartment, and go different ways. Even our sexual life was affected. Once we chilled out, we talked, and I started to look for assistance. Food Stamps denied, rent assistance denied. Thank God March’s rent was paid, and other bills as well. Our major concern was food and April’s rent.

I started to pray every night, like I always do, thanking the Universe for my job, my benefits, and my salary, even though I wasn’t working. I also thanked the Universe for my health, even though it wasn’t the greatest.

A friend from Florida came to visit for a weekend, and she opened the fridge and saw that it was almost empty. The day she was leaving, she asked for my email address and she sent me $200 from her bank account. I wasn’t expecting that but she put food on our table for at least 2 week.

We were thinking to use our credit cards to buy groceries but thanks to my friend, we could use the money to pay the rent. But then our dog got sick. She was vomiting, not eating, not drinking, and the situation was getting worse. We decided to take her to the vet, and after the exams and blood work, it turned out to be a stomach virus.

How did we pay? We used our credit cards to save her life, and we were broke again. We used the money my friend gave us to buy food and we were short for the rent. My husband was so anxious. He spoke to a friend in Florida about our situation, and then out of nowhere, we got a check in the mail from him for $250. That was another amazing blessing.

I kept my faith. I continued to say thank you to the Universe for all the blessings we have been given, for the roof over our head, the transportation that we had, my job, and my salary. Finally, I went to a neurologist and he gave me the release to go back to work. I started the next day, a Friday, and I checked my bank account that morning to see if a refund had been posted for something we had bought.

To my surprise, the refund was not there but a payment from my job was there! When I got to my job, I checked the paystub, and the money had come from Short Term Disability. They had decided to pay me for that week! When I got paid 2 weeks later, I was paid again from Short Term Disability plus for the week that I had worked.

And today, the end of the week, I checked my time, and again, 40 hours from disability, plus my 40 hours for the week! I just have to say, thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you so much to the Universe for all my blessings! Thank you, too, for The Secret Super App.
