The Great Escape
Submitted by: Carol Johnson
St. Petersburg, FLNever having been one to fantasize in the past, but when things got really bad... it was my only escape. Clearly, this is what I manifested into my life.
‘She smiled as she gazed around her studio. The stained glass sparkled in the sunlight streaming through the windows.’
She had been in an unhealthy relationship/marriage for 16 years. Yes, she married him even though things were already bad. Maybe marriage would fix’ things. It didn’t.
She dreamed of leaving. She had a job that helped ends meet, but it certainly didn’t afford her the luxury of packing up her life of 50 years to move 1000 miles away to the love and safety of her family. So she began escaping in her mind. She saw herself living in her own little home, something she had always wanted. She saw herself doing stained glass. Where had that come from? She had never done stained glass before. Oh well, it was a nice dream. She began decorating her home, she began selling her stained glass. But only in her mind.
For years she dreamed, down to the colors she would paint her living room, how she would arrange her furniture, the marketing plan she would use to sell her glass. Her family worried about her and begged her to move away from him.
And then one day she decided it was time to throw caution to the winds, and wrote her resignation letter. The next day after a meeting, her boss called her into his office. She sat down and he handed her a lay-off notice. She had always believed in signs here was a huge one, in black and white! And it took her a step closer to making her dreams come true. She did pack up her life of 50 years and she did move 1000 miles away.
One day as she drove past the neighborhood recreation center, she saw a sign offering stained glass classes. She pulled into the parking lot and signed up. She began looking for her perfect house and, of course, found it with room for a studio! She painted her living room and arranged furniture and sold her stained glass.
Now, she had never heard of The Secret, but as she looked around and realized her dreams had come true, exactly as she had dreamed them, she realized the unbelievable power of the Universe. And she smiled as she gazed around her studio.
