Emmett, MII received The Secret book from my husband for Christmas. I had heard all the hype about the book when it was first released, my husband even brought home a huge write-up about it in the Detroit News, and then of course, there was Oprah. I unfortunately did not read the book right away, being a bit of a skeptic. Once I started to finally read it I was finished in under 2 days.
I wasn’t even half way through when my husband started asking me questions. He wanted to know what “The Secret” was without having to read the book himself. Here is the example I chose to use: I told my husband about how a friend of mine had taken me out to dinner for my birthday a few weeks earlier. We went to The Olive Garden, my favorite, and, since it was my birthday decided to have dessert. The waitress recommended this Italian lemon cake, so we gave it a try. Man, oh man! That was the best cake I had ever tasted. So, I told my husband that I was going to focus on a WHOLE Italian lemon cake and that before I knew it I would have one.
Well, 2 weeks later I was out shopping for a birthday cake for my son. I was looking at all of the character cakes that are in the display case when I noticed that directly to the right of the cake I was considering purchasing, was an entire Italian lemon cake. Exactly like the piece I had on my birthday. When I got home and showed the cake to my husband he was amazed. But also a little disappointed that I had completely forgotten about buying a cake for my son. My son’s birthday party was yesterday, and yes, he had the Spiderman cake that he wanted, but I also had the lemon cake to share with the adults at the party. It was a hit.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Now it is on to bigger and better.
P.S. My husband started reading The Secret today!!
