Ever since I was little I had always wanted to own a horse, but I was always saying that it would never happen to me. I would have to deal with being a vet. It wasn’t until I moved to Grand Junction that the dream became a possibility. I began changing my way of thinking and the opportunity came up to work on a ranch. Two weeks after I started one of the mares gave birth to a little filly. I fell in love with the little firecracker and wondered how I would come up with the $1,500 price. The filly was named Stormy Lu and I knew I couldn’t live without her. I talked to my boss about working Stormy off, and my boss agreed. I signed a contract on the day Stormy Lu turned two weeks old. Now two years old, I’ve nearly paid her off in full, which includes vet, feed, and other care, plus boarding fees. Stormy Lu is my best friend and my inspiration to keep going.
Then I had to think of how to convince my mom to move to a place where we could keep Stormy. We discovered The Secret and began searching. Now we live in a house with a horse property for around three horses. I get to bring Stormy Lu home in late July, early August.
