Well just a few months ago I was standing on the balcony of my apartment and thinking of jumping off. I wanted to jump off because I was in tremendous pain. A pain I thought I couldn’t bear any more.

I was dating this guy who was my best friend. He was a christian and me being a hindu, inter religion marriage in our country is a big, big thing. Well I had been fighting my family for him for over a year. He wasn’t in India and I was alone here. But each time the only motivation that kept me going was the fact that he will be back soon and we will be happy. We will go through everything together.

He was to come to India in Feb 13. Till 28 Jan 13 everything between us seemed to be perfectly normal and very good. But till today I just know what happened and that boy changed. It was like he flipped. I woke up the next day only to not recognize him. Things took a very, very rough patch between us. He just stopped talking to me and ignored me.

I had a nervous breakdown and was in the hospital for a week. He never came to even visit me, let alone be bothered about me. For almost 2 months I was in severe depression. Doctor prescribed to visit a psychologist and go through a strict medication.

One of my friends had spoken to me about The Secret a few years back. I had read it at that time, but never really followed it. But this time I took it up and actually read it. I read the book, bought the CD and heard it every single day. I reread The Secret at least twice and made sure I listened to the CD every single day. I also bought The Power and The Magic. These three books became like oxygen in my life. I would just read and reread these books.

Then one day I thought why not make a list of all the qualities I need in a man. So I wrote down 25 points. I just kept writing. It was like I was in some dream world. I made note of all the smallest things in my life. I started learning to be grateful in life. I would appreciate the smallest of smallest things. I started to learn to be thankful for my eyes, fingers, friends, family, sun, flowers, everything. I saw beauty in everything around me.

And the universe did the magic. Sometimes I just wonder if this is really happening to me. I suddenly met this girl who wants me to meet her friend and thinks we can hit it off. Initially I was a little hesitant but eventually agreed to meet this guy. And I’m so glad I did. He is everything, every single thing I wrote for myself. It’s just been a month since I know this boy and I have ticked 98% of the points in my list.

I am extremely happy today. I want to live life today and look forward to a future. We haven’t spoken of marriage yet but something tells me we will very soon. My dear Universe will bring him to me and we will have our happily ever after. I would definitely update all of you and share my happiness.
