Southaven, MSI'm a high school senior from a city to the south of Memphis, TN. After this year in high school I plan on attending the University of Mississippi in Oxford,MS.
My story begins with my Dad, his girlfriend, and myself watching a TiVo’ed Oprah. I saw the story of the little girl who sang so well and attributed much of her success to a book called “The Secret”. Never hearing any specifics on the book I asked my Dad, and he started to tell me the basics of the book. He and his girlfriend had both read the book and seen the movie. The next night his girlfriend brought the book to my house and said it was my turn to read the book.
Later that night I started on the book. I read page after page, learning of the “secret” that so many people before me knew. I decided to try at least some of the things listed in the beginning of the book. I started with saying the things I wanted to happen in the immediate future. I said I wanted to: go play golf with my Dad soon, get accepted to the University of Mississippi, and finally to hear some good news on a job I had been looking forward to getting.
The following morning (today) I woke up and decided to list all the things I was thankful for while doing my morning routine. Knowing my Dad needed to borrow my golf clubs because of a work tournament today, I knew that I would not be able to play. Little did I know until after getting ready to leave that my Dad’s tournament for the day had been canceled. I went through the school day feeling pretty good about myself, and when I made my way home I felt like something good was going to happen.
The first good news I heard was that my best friend who worked at the local golf course I wanted a job at had been promoted, opening a spot down stairs washing carts out. Not wanting to freak myself out I contributed this good fortune to his hard work lately, and only expressed my best wishes and congratulations to my friend.
When I arrived home I was surprised to see my Dad at the house waiting on me. He told me that my little sister’s game she would be cheer leading at was canceled, leaving his afternoon open to go hit some golf balls with me. Recognizing my second stroke of good fortune, I knew something must really work with this “secret” after all.
The rest of the evening I spent with my Sad, some valuable time off that he usually never gets just to hang out with me. When I made it home I decided to get the mail. The stack was unusually heavy, so when I started to sort through the mail I was surprised to see a large envelope from The University of Mississippi. Opening the letter revealed my acceptance letter for next fall’s term!
So now here I sit, revealing to all of you that I believe in The Secret. Little did I know that it would have an immediate result on my life. I asked for three things the first night and had all three delivered the next day! I am here to let the Secret out to the whole world! There is a special circumstance at play in this world, and I have proof!
