How The Secret Turned My Life Around Completely

Submitted by: Lucy

New York City, NY

I grew up in the Midwest, but always knew I was a city girl. At the age of 21, I moved independently to New York City to study fashion merchandising and work in the fashion industry. I now live in Manhattan and work for the biggest global fashion brand. Since learning The Secret, I use it on a daily basis and manifest things so quickly and specifically that it gives me goosebumps.

I grew up in the Midwest, but always knew I was a city girl. I saw myself as a fashionable girl working at a luxurious brand, making tons of money, and having tons of friends. My family believed that life is always a struggle, that you shouldn’t take risks, that it’s shameful to spend money, and that wanting a luxurious life is selfish. I knew how this made me feel (horrible), so I decided I would take a different path. I began ignoring everything they taught me. I received a lot of critisicm (and I mean, a lot), but I knew deep in my heart that I was doing the right thing.

I graduated from a small fashion merchandising school in the Midwest that lacked the resources, but I knew I would transfer to a college in fashion merchandising in NYC. I only knew about FIT, so I applied. I did not get in and my heart was broken. I spent an entire day crying in bed until I realized that my sadness would only bring more sadness. It certainly did. I decided to change my attitude and believe that I would find another college. One day I overheard a girl I knew discussing LIM College with another peer (at the current college I was going to and about to graduate from). I had to act fast because I was about to graduate, so I needed to transfer within a month. I went home, researched the college and applied. I didn’t hear back but I stopped myself from panicking and kept my faith. I didn’t worry, I didn’t even think about WHY they weren’t contacting me… I just KNEW it would workout. I kept living my life, treating my body well, and focusing on the life I wanted. My family worried and gossiped, but I ignored it completely. One day I received a phone call. It was a person who worked at the admissions office at LIM College. It turns out they were simply behind on accepting students. They told me I was accepted and that school started in 3 days! Now, I have since realized looking back that had I had months to prepare for a move, I would have been scared, thinking about the unknown, and I would have received even more pressure from my family. This fast move was a BLESSING. I called my parents, they were excited and didn’t even have time to worry. We had to act and to my surprise, they were so happy for me. They did not know how it would work out, but all that mattered was that I DID. I was so happy that I cried on my floor in my bedroom. I will never forget that day. The move was easy and the entire staff in the admissions office and financial aid office was so wonderful. They accomodated me in ways I could not have imagined. Keep in mind, I knew NO ONE in New York City and I barely remembered visiting as a child.
On my first day I was in the admissions office getting my ID badge when I noticed a quote from The Secret. I can’t remember the exact quote, but it inspired me. About a week later I saw the book at Barnes & Noble. I bought it immediately. I remember reading it in my dorm room that night and I was in AWE. I realized I had used The Secret without even knowing it!
After learning The Secret, I made 5 best friends within one month of moving, I got a position at one of the biggest brands in the fashion industry (as a student it is extremely rare to get a job at a corporate level; usually you intern for about 5 months making no money). I went from making $8 in the Midwest to making $20 at this new dream position while going to college. I absolutely LOVED both experiences!
That same year I finally lost the 20 pounds I had always wanted to lose and I loved every minute of it! I stopped looking in the mirror or observing my body. I did weigh myself, but I only focused on the number. As the scale crept down in numbers, I started to just see the weight I wanted. In addition, it was due to being around healthy people all the time. In my hometown, most people were overweight and I strongly believe that was holding me back because it was what I was focusing on. In the Midwest, I ate when I wasn’t hungry, I ate junk food that made me sick after I ate it (because I was unknowingly allergic), and I followed what everyone ELSE was doing. In NYC, I started a healthy diet that I LOVE. I am so satisfied with everything I eat and I only eat when I’m hungry.
I’ve become a master at The Secret and I now can manifest everything I want with such speed and specificity that it gives me goosebumps. I now work for another huge global fashion brand, I make the exact salary I want, I have so many loving friends, I have my dream apartment, and I live the type of lifestyle that’s better than I could have ever imagined. I wake up happy every day and go to bed satisfied.
I will say, one of the keys for me was feeling as if I ALREADY have what I want. The Secret teaches that you cannot simply intellecutally believe that you have what you want already, you must have a corresponding belief behind it. Any time I looked at my vision board without feeling as if I already had what was on my board, I would feel bad. I would feel like it would never happen. I quickly turned that around by closing my eyes and FEELING IT to the point where I almost had tears in my eyes. Let me tell you… this changed my LIFE.
In addition, surrounding myself with like-minded people is also key. I had to get away from negative people who were sucking the life out of me. That was the best decision I’ve ever made.
The Secret can give you ANYTHING you want.
