First of all, I would like to thank Rhonda and The Secret team for bringing this magical book into my life and changing it forever.

My name is Paul Bright. I’m 44 and I want to share my story to inspire people all over the world who are living a bad life to show them they can achieve a better life, just like I did. This is my story.

I was a good kid from a good family with a fantastic childhood. Football was my life as I came from a city that was football crazy. I lived close to the stadium which was so special for me growing up as all I ever wanted to do was to play for my beloved LFC. School life was also great with my friends.

My life then took a very bad turn when I started taking drugs. I got into a life of heroin and crack addiction and I was living in hell for many years and it nearly took my life. I was fighting constantly with this addiction. I was in and out of rehabs but I always ended up back to square one. 18 years of my life was wasted this way and I could not see a way out.

One time I was alone in Spain at my parents’ holiday home when I had to get away and try to clear my head once again. I was sitting alone outside a cafe one day having coffee when I was approached by a man who asked if he could join me. We got chatting and he was also English. He was from London so that was good as there was no language barrier to cross. This man said to me that he could see that I had problems in my life. I said yes. I told him about my life and he listened, then he said wait here I’ll be back in 5 minutes and off he went.

He returned with this book called The Secret and told me to read this book and before I leave to return to England to leave it here at the cafe with the owner and he would pick it up. Then he wished me good luck and off he went. I thought, wow, what a lovely man, he listened, he cared for me and he had never met me in his life. Now I’m not a big fan of reading but I thought the book looked interesting so I paid for my coffee, picked up the book, and started to walk back to my parents’ house.

I read the back cover of the book and that alone gave me a feeling I’d never felt before. I read the book that night and I felt it in my heart and my mind.

Ever since that day, 10 years ago, I have never taken heroin or crack again. I asked, believed, and received the greatest thing I could have wished for. To have myself back, alive and living and my life since that day has been amazing. I ended up living in Norway and Spain. In the last 10 years, I have been travelling around Europe and working and my life has just gotten better and better.

You are the key to your whole existence. What this taught me was to believe in myself and that anything is possible with the power of thought. So for anybody out there suffering, give yourself a break. Believe in yourself and you can achieve anything when you put your mind to it. I’m living proof that even in the darkest of days, with the power of The Secret you can live the life you always wanted. Just never give up.
