Renewed Faith

NL, CanadaA truly grateful wife and mother of two wounderful children.
I first read The Secret in 2007. Though I got uplifted and was able to become a more positive person for a time, I always would fall back to the old me, sceptical, negative and just plain depressive at times. Between then and now a lot of good and bad things have happened, but it was the most resent event that really changed me.
Earlier this year my husband got sick with pnemonia that progressed into respiratory failure within days. He was put on life support because he could no longer breath on his own. Because of all this, the doctors put him into an induced coma. The doctors couldn’t seem to give me any answers to why this was happening. They wouldn’t even give me a prognosis because they really didn’t know which way it would turn out. I thought I was going to loose him. At first he wasn’t responding to any of the treatements, I started to pray. Every quiet moment I had, I prayed.
Everyone kept telling me that he would make it through this and I started to tell myself the same thing several times a day. As I sat by his side in the icu, I had my copy of THE POWER. I read from it everyday. Family on his side and mine prayed, included him in prayer groups. It wasn’t long that he started to respond but still it was a slow process. Somedays there would be no changes but I never lost hope… none of us did. After three weeks he was awake and off the machine and on his way to recovery. The doctors and nurses told me how supprised they were at how quickly he got back on his feet and doing things for him self. He had to learn to walk, eat and all that kind of stuff. But his own positive outlook on life and determination has brought him back to his normal self in much less time than everyone thought he would.
He is the love of my life and a great father to our two kids. Finally, I have learned what faith and love can do. I still have my moments of doubt and have my little break downs, but I never stay in that frame of mine for very long. I visit this website almost everyday to get inspiration from other people’s stories and I hope that this story inspires and give hope to other readers.
Thank you to Rhonda and everyone who has brought The Secret, The Power and this website to all of us. And thank you to everyone who shares their stories.
