Sending blessings and gratitude to Rhonda and everyone reading this story. Even before reading The Secret and understanding more formally the LOA, I was pretty good at attracting what I wanted in my life. That isn’t to say I didn’t attract plenty of what I didn’t want, but most recently I was reminded of just how important it is to RELEASE the outcome.
About six months ago I desired a new job and a 30% increase in salary. This increase would put me over $100k for the first time in my working life and I was excited about the thought of it. I only applied for jobs that had a minimum salary of $100k. I interviewed for a great many jobs, and was grateful to get the interviews, but nothing was going my way. Everyone liked me enough, thought I had the skills, but they kept going with other candidates.
After doing this three or four times, while trying to maintain my composure and wits about me at work, I stopped trying. I still had a truly strong desire for a new job and it was only when I said to myself “I give up”, that an email arrived in my inbox from a perspective employer saying someone had sent along my resume and felt I would be a great fit for the job and the company.
Fast forward almost three months. Through a phone screening, 90 minute first interview, a 13 HOUR second interview, and finally they had checked references and I was awaiting a call with an offer. The scary thing was we’d never discussed salary throughout it all, and in my head I kept saying as long as it’s more than $100k, I’ll take it. But truly, my desire was 30% and that meant the salary needed to be $113k.
When I finally got the call and the time came to offer me the job, I was holding my breath when my soon to be boos said $113k exactly!
I was so busy thanking the Universe that she thought my silence must have been the result of my not liking the offer and she quickly said ” In six months we’ll do a review and you’ll be eligible for an increase as well as another increase after the first year”.
This is a perfect example of keeping the desire, but releasing the outcome!
I am now almost 90 days into my new job and loving every minute of it!
