Raising my game
Submitted by: Julia Gaudio
EnglandI am a confident, positive, ambitious, smiley, passionate girl. I have always received what I have asked for with never thinking I couldn't have it. People bounce of me and I'm only surrounded by people that think, act and believe like me and if they didn't they do now.
One of many stories…
I have my own business and have attracted that by always believing one day I would.
When I opened my salon I said to myself one day I want one of the units either side of me so I can expand. Two years later sure enough some man comes in my salon thinking he was putting a ‘to let’ sign up but wrong unit Im afraid the next thing I know the shop next door exactly the one I wanted is up for let. It faces the front of the main road, perfect, its mine.
So I got my outside team together pricing it up, drawing plans, pulling a strong business plan together, the bank would definitely give me the money, the staff would grow as I did and the money will just roll. Then an ice-cream parlour decided they wanted it and bang there proposal won over mine.
What was I doing wrong? What signals was I sending out? Why wasnt I believing in myself?
So I changed my game. I told myself that I would get it, it was time to get all the help I could and all the people that could get inside and win it for me. I had to change my offer, up my game, tell myself I had it and carry on preparing like I did. I told only 5 close people that the other party had one because telling to many people would be admitting I lost it and I was never going to do that.
Exactly 2 weeks later on the Monday an email came through to say the other party had pulled out and it was mine. The bank loved my business plan, my team turned there game up and I got the premises I wanted and the expansion is moving on nicely and by December 1st 2010 we will be open!
