Proving To Myself.
Submitted by: Victoria
WiganI am a 21 year old acting student in my final year.
My parents have been following The Secret for years and introduced the whole family to it when I was a lot younger, so naturally I didn’t really understand it. My parents often inspired me and my siblings with positive outlooks on our futures and always reassured us that if we ever felt negative about things, if we really wanted things to change for the better, they can.
I started to follow my parents advice and from what I can remember around that time, things where amazing. As I grew older and started university, I started to get into a rut where I picked up other peoples bad habits and my mind wasn’t the clean, healthy mind I once had. Being an actor also made things difficult to keep on track with not feeling envious or threatened, and things started to go down hill. I needed inspiration, I needed to feel clean again.
That’s when I knew the only way I could become myself again was to follow The Secret. At first I struggled keeping up and maintaining positive thoughts, but with a bit of practise you can do anything. Just before I left my second year of university for summer, I was using The Secret in full swing and I even had my best friend on board with me and that made things ten times easier! I had a deep desire to prove to my teachers that I am amazing and I can act. I really imagined and felt what it would be like to do well in my assessment. I sat outside the assessment room ready and raring to show them what I could do. That was the best performance I had done so far. Following up from my performance I also gained outstanding grades. I was over the moon!
Over summer I again slumped back into old ways, not feeling motivated, having negative thoughts, which I also took into the beginning of my third year of university. This is the most important year of my life. I knew I had to change. We had three major plays that we had to audition for and they will be a big part of our final grade. So I set my heart on a couple of parts and went into the auditions with a fairly positive mind and came out somewhat satisfied. This wasn’t enough because my heart wanted more. I changed my outlook and thought that this was a chance to really see if The Secret is going to change my life. I searched quotes, I came on this website and read other people’s stories and I knew what I had to do.
The night before we found out what parts we was going to get, I started imagining my name being read out for that part, I thanked the universe for my amazing family, friends, boyfriend, my job that I am so grateful for, being on such an amazing acting course, the list goes on. The morning of the casting being announced, I lay in my parents bed and just kept imagining and thanking and I wrote in my phone what I wanted and thanked the universe.
I got the part I wanted!!
I am so grateful and thankful for everything the universe has opened up for me and I will be eternally grateful to The Secret for opening up my mind to a world of opportunities.
Thank you universe.
