Patience is a virtue

Cape Town, South AfricaI am a full time freelance actress, friend, mentor, and facilitator. An African woman and proud of that.
I have been in the performing industry for 3 years now. Last year when I read The Secret I was doing the fringe festival at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
My story title ‘Patience is a virtue’ is because it has always been my dream to be in the main festival, and I have sent a request to the Universe to do a whole lot of things. Some of my requests I have forgotten, but when they do appear I know that this is what I asked for.
2007 I did a movie in which I had a cameo role, which I enjoyed. This year I am acting alongside two incredible yet respectable, powerful actors, and I have so much respect for them. We are being directed by the most amazing director, who I believe is the best female director that I have encountered in my entire career.
With patience and belief that all is possible in the universe my dreams and wishes are coming true. The biggest wish of them all is knocking at my door, and it is just for me to open it. Is it The Secret? Or is it God, the universe, my ancestors? I don’t know, but what I can say is that I BELIEVE AND I ASK AND I DO RECEIVE.
In me lies greatness beyond anybody’s control and beyond imagination, but I am because you are and we are because we are all one, and I believe in our African term of UBUNTU, which translates as HUMANITY.
Patience is not something that we can just pick up on the side of the road, but it is something that takes a lot of courage. Especially being an artist, you realise that some of us are in it for the fame. Now where is the humanity in that? I might not be wealthy as I wish to be, but I am happy with what I have and I am proud to say although I come from a poor family, my father made sure I got the best education and now I have to look after him and my entire family.
My mother constantly says “umzingisi akanashwa,” which means, one who perseveres never gets bad luck. If I have to be patient for another 28 years of my life to be on the Oprah Winfrey show as the first black South African actress to receive the Oscar, so be it.
I will patiently wait with The Secret in my hand. Thank you for The Secret – it has changed my life. Some may have questions about it, but I BELIEVE and I have proof of what I am talking about. My name will be on billboards soon and my face be all over for all to see who I am.
