Our Volkswagen Touareg.

Kolkata, IndiaWe are family of 4, now 5, with our 1yr old Golden Retriever, currently living in Kolkata, India, waiting for our move to our next destination to live and work. We have gratefully witnessed many miracles of The Secret, manifested what we wanted many times and also lost track and traversed the not-so-pleasant phases of life. But the knowledge and awareness of The Secret keeps giving us strength, calms the inner chatter and outside disturbances when they overwhelm us and helps us get back up.
I manifested the car I had once dreamed of. It was in July of 2008, while I was attending a Leadership Training program that I first got a glimpse of the movie, The Secret. Bob Proctor was saying “You know, this Secret gives you everything you want. What do you really want?”. We only saw the first few minutes of the film in the training, but I knew I had to get my hands on this movie. I finally obtained my copy sometime in 2009 and watched the film. I have since watched the film a few hundred times and I have used it to navigate my path toward what I wanted.
On August 01, 2010, and we moved to Johannesburg, South Africa from Bangalore, India. We, as a family, spent our most memorable three and a half years there. I have always been fond of cars, and one car that caught my fancy in South Africa was the Volkswagen Touareg. I loved the look and styling of it and wanted to own it someday! We had visited a VW showroom and picked a brochure, and my wife neatly cut out the picture of a metallic, space grey Touareg in the centerfold and pasted it in her journal. It looked majestic.
Fast forward to 2014, we had moved to live in Dubai, UAE. After a few months in the country and on obtaining my UAE Drivers License, we went to check out what car we wanted to buy. Now, cars are much more affordable in the UAE and we were looking out for an SUV at this time, our first SUV. We checked out the Nissan Pathfinder and loved it. Once we stepped out of the Nissan showroom, there was this Volkswagen showroom just next door. We went in, but it was late for the day so we booked an appointment for the following day and left.
The next day, we took our test drive of a Touareg. The salesperson informed us that there were a few offers running, but he was not sure which color car we might get as there was limited stock available. When we came out of the showroom, my wife nudged me and said that ever since we were in Johannesburg I had wanted to buy a Touareg, so why not buy it now? Obviously, it was more expensive than the Pathfinder, but she insisted that if I wanted the Touareg, then I should go for it.
We came back the following day and decided to book our car saying any color we got was OK, but we told them we did not want a white one. We completed our formalities and went off. We were asked to collect the car in a few days and we all agreed to pick it up on the date of my son’s birthday, which was around the corner.
When we reached the showroom on my son’s birthday to collect our brand-new car, we were handed over the keys to a brand new Touareg. It looked majestic. It was luxurious. It was powerful. It was sporty. And it had some pretty amazing features, none of which I ever had in any of my earlier cars I had owned, rented or driven! We drove back home, very, very happy and proud owners of our own VW Touareg.
We had both forgotten about the picture of the Touareg that my wife had cut out and pasted in her journal several years back. Upon recollecting that picture on our way back home that evening, my better-half asked me if I remembered the picture of the Touareg that was pasted on her journal. I vaguely remembered! She then pointed out that the color of the car we just drove out in, was the exact same metallic, space grey that was in the picture she had put on her journal. Suddenly the memory of that picture grew more vivid and I recalled it. Yes! We were both amazed at how we now owned the exact same car, of the exact same color that we had once, several years back, envisioned, and we were now riding it home.
The Universe has its interesting ways to let us know that if we can hold it in our head, we can hold it in our hands. Just as was said by Bob Proctor in the movie The Secret. The Universe indeed did rearrange itself, brought about the right circumstances, moved us to a different country, nudged us a bit here and there, which led us to the thing we so dearly had wanted.
We drove our Touareg for the next 3 years, created wonderful memories with it, till we left UAE, for our next destination, Nairobi, Kenya.
