One goal, a million more to come
Ok, so this story isn’t going to make headlines, but it was the one thing that proved the Secret to me once and for all. I had purchased the book on a whim, not even knowing what it was about. I devoured it over the next two days, and it was my constant companion everywhere I went. (Ok, so maybe I should’ve listened in history class, but the book was much more interesting. Can you blame me?)
Anyway, back to my story. To prove to myself that the Secret actually worked (I was a bit of a doubter,) I decided that in my upcoming hockey tournament I was going to get a goal. This may not sound like a miracle, but this year I’m in a higher league, and I hadn’t scored a goal all season. I was like, Ok, my time to shine. I began thinking positive about all my teammates (previously, I only griped in my mind about what puck hogs my line was). To my surprise, they all began passing to me! I was so shocked that I nearly missed a few of them. I decided, however, that I wanted my own goal, not just to tip the puck into the net. The third game of the tournament I was on the bench about to go on, when I thought, this is it. I’m going to go out there, and score in the first ten seconds. The door opened and my line glided onto the ice. We made it into the opposing team’s side and I swiped the puck away from the other team’s player. I shot at the net without even thinking about it. To my utter astonishment, the puck zinged off the post, off the goalie’s pad and into the net. It was such a random goal that we all just stood there, dumbfounded for a moment. Then, my team mates all rushed over to me and enveloped me in a crushing, many armed hug. I played an amazing game, and won MVP.
As I was heading home, my mom driving, she looked at me for a moment. She asked if I had used the Secret and I just grinned. She then proceeded to tell me that the goal didn’t even look like it was supposed to happen, like some sort of energy was involved. As strange as it sounds, I know there was.
