Once upon a time in Heathrow

IcelandÃsdÃs is 50 years old, working for the Directorate of Labour in Iceland.
It was in August 2008 at Heathrow airport. I had recently read The Secret, watched the movie so I had the whole thing on my mind. I had been on a course in Malta, on my way to Iceland with a 12 hours stopover. “What am I going to do for 12 hours?” I said to myself, a little bit frustrated. Yes, I could visit the stores, have a coffee, read a book but for 12 hours?
“Well” I thought as I was sipping my coffee at the coffee shop. “How about using The Secret?” And then I put out the wish “I wish that I will meet someone here at the airport, that I can talk to for a while so I won’t be bored”.
The wish was out there so now all I had to do was to wait. I walked around, sat down and started to read my book. After half an hour or so, a young girl approached me. I looked up, and saw that she was heading in my direction. I put down the book and looked at her. She said ” Hello, would you be willing to talk to me for a while? I am from Germany, on my way home after a summer course in English and I wanted to practice my English”. I was astonished, to say the least, and probably looked like an idiot! But, of course I said yes, and we talked for almost 2 hours until she had to catch her flight. I walked her to her gate, and when I waved goodbye I thought “Seems to me that The Secret really works!”
