I am grateful that law of attraction came to my knowledge early enough before all these ideas about responsibilities for others stopped me from pursuing my dreams.
After finishing my Spanish degree, I got offered two jobs at the same time: One as a consular assistant at the Embassy of Argentina in Vietnam and one in this Vietnamese telecom company in Peru. It was a tough decision because I really wanted to travel, so the second job offer was obviously more attractive.
However, my mom had just passed a while before that and my dad was still in a serious depression. To me, it did not matter how much great experience I gained or how much money I earned if my dad were to think that I was an ungrateful and selfish son. I would die if I had that kind of reputation. So that fear somehow made me decide to stay in Vietnam and do the job at the Embassy.
For almost four years, the relationship between my dad and I was really sad. Especially after I came out to him as gay. I wished and wished I had had made my decision to go to Peru back then because I found out that if my dad can’t find peace within himself after my mom’s death, even me staying next to him all the time would not change anything.
One day when I saw my friend posting on Facebook about her travelling abroad and living her dream, I made the decision in my head that it was time to live for myself. I asked, I believed and therefore I received. The job opportunity in Peru came back because of the expansion of the company and the lack of people who had the experience and languages. Yet, what was even better was that those who went before me told me that now that the company is more developed, work is a lot more comfortable than it was back during those first days. As much a miracle has how we are born, my PR and event job allowed me to go travel in Peru more than anyone else in the company. In only half a year I have already travelled through half of the country, eleven cities and have seen beautiful sights for free because the company pays for those work trips.
Even more wonderful, since I left, my relationship with my dad has improved so much. We talk once every two days on Face chat and now he even asks me give him virtual kisses. Also, a small but very significant detail, my friend from the USA, Rebecca, decided to rent my room which gives my dad a bit of income and beautiful company with whom he can drink the traditional rice wine with at the weekends. Thanks to Rebecca, I can shake some weight off my shoulders about my dad’s health and mentality and focus on living this new life of mine in Peru, a beautiful place halfway across the world.
Thank you Universe for not considering me an exception and allowing me to experience the process just as beautifully as others do or can do.
