‘The Secret‘ was recommended to me in 2010 by a colleague. At the time, I loved buying things so I bought the book. It sat on my make-shift bookshelf for years until I heard one of my former classmates mention that the book had changed her life! This was enough motivation for me and I dusted the book off the shelf, read it, and kept reading it.

The Secret did not change my life overnight. The whole concept seemed too simplistic to me at the time. Think happy thoughts and show gratitude for what you already have to attract what you want in your life. Surely it couldn’t be that difficult. Of course, it was! I thought to myself, how could I be grateful in advance for something that I don’t even have? So I had to read the book once more to truly understand it. This time, I did. It made complete sense. I also bought the DVD and saw it with my sister. I was hooked!

Like most people, I started small. A free meal, a parking spot, a favorable email, a canceled meeting. I grew in confidence when things manifested but there were times when they did not. So I re-read the chapters of the book to see where I was going wrong. I also read “How The Secret Changed My Life”. I saw Youtube videos on the law of attraction and I watched Bob Proctor and Oprah Winfrey share their stories. The Secret was beginning to take over my life and I kept getting better at the practice. My faith kept getting stronger and I was ready to manifest something big.

At the time, I felt stuck in a job I no longer enjoyed. It paid decent money but it didn’t make me happy. So I manifested a better job with better pay, simply because I felt I deserved something better in life. I was not mediocre. I was talented and I could change my life.

After almost one year of visualizing, journaling, and surrounding myself with ‘the law’, I got an opportunity to change my field of work. I also did it while receiving a better salary and going to a different country! I had always lived with my family and had never thought of moving to another country. But something inside my heart told me that I was doing the right thing and that the Universe was on my side. With my family’s blessings, I took the plunge, and it is turning out to be one enriching experience.

It has been 9 months since I moved to another country and during this time, I have manifested my flat, the things in my flat, and my work, among other things. I have come to realize that the law becomes a part of your life until it IS your life and there is no other way to live.

My sister and I have just completed ‘The Magic‘. During these uncertain times, it has made us happier, mentally tougher, full of gratitude, and at peace. I make it a point to read the last chapter, “The Magic Never Ends” every morning to start my day with gratitude. The world has slowed down and it’s time to count our blessings.

All the ones who taught us that if we can see it in our minds, through the practice of gratitude, we can hold it in our hands. What a powerful thought!
