I first watched The Secret on DVD last summer at my best friend’s house. We were so hooked on it we started our own gratitude book, and we even cut out things we wanted from magazines. In my gratitude book I wrote out a list of things I wanted to have by the end of the year, from a car, to a type of cell phone, and job. I wrote down 10 specific things, out of those 10 I have received 6 in less than that year.

One was I got the job of my dreams. Even when I was in school I just knew I was going to get that job, and I always told myself I love my job because I get to express my work in different ways. Then next thing I know, 3 months after I graduated I was working the exact job I wanted.

Next on my list was a new car. Now my family has had the same car for a good 10 years. It was old – 1984 to be exact – but it was a classic and it held me well through college. But as I started working my dream job everyone was telling me to get a new car, because this one kept on messing up. I knew it was time for a new car but was very hesitant. My good friend is a dealer and he told me what car I should get, and I immediately fell in love with that car. 3 days later I got into an accident which smashed my front end of the car. So here I was, no vehicle, and my friend told me it was time to get that car I wanted. I visualized myself in the car every day, touching the wheel, driving with the sunroof open, my hair blowing in the wind. One week later he brought the exact car I dreamed of but even better because it had more accessories to it.

The power of the mind is so wonderful, and knowing that if you really want something and put your mind to it, you can get it. I used to think negative all the time, how I feel, how people felt about me, etc. I threw all those feelings in a box and I threw it away. Now I’m filled with positive thoughts, I feel much more better about myself, more sure, more excited than ever! The Secret is extremely effective when you are using it to better yourself in life.
