My Mermaid Colored Feather.
Submitted by: Ashley Hickey
LondonI’m a single mother of a 5 year old daughter. I am currently in college studying and in work placement. I’ve spent most of my life thinking "the cup is half empty" until I read ‘The Secret’.
So after reading The Secret, I was thinking about the part where the man imagined a feather and then he found the feather he had imagined. With a hint of disbelief, being the pessimist I can be, I thought to myself that my feather would be the colors I imagined a mermaid tail would be like. Turquoise green, purple and two-toned.
Then, wondering if I had set the standard too high, a few days later while walking my daughter to school, I looked down and a feather with all the colors mentioned above, landed at my feet!
I was amazed but with a busy school run being what it was, I was embarrassed to bend down and pick it up with lots of people rushing around behind me. I instantly regretted walking past it so quickly. I called my sister to tell her I had just walked past the feather I had imagined. She screamed at me to go back and pick it up quickly! Even though I thought a feather would have blown away within seconds, especially in windy that weather, I rushed back hoping it would be there and I hadn’t just been so stupid to walk past something I created.
There is was, still in the same place, so I didn’t care what people thought about me running back to pick up a feather.
Now, whenever I am having a bad day, I always pick up my feather and look at the colors in amazement, knowing this thing landed at my feet from just my thought, when I was doubting the possibilities we are capable of.
