My inheritance
Submitted by: Ramona R.
Yakima WALong story, I was raised in Mexico and the United States. I have written a book all about it. Not from here, not from there.
While a small child I was left with my God Mother who also was my Aunt. She was a very caring, loving, single, Christian woman. She was always there for everyone in our family whenever they were in need. Since I was her God daughter I was one of her heirs; until she married for the first time at age 75. Her new husband was of an undesirable character and before she died he changed her will and I was written out of it. I didn’t care, as she had raised me and had sent me to nursing school. I figured it was more than enough.
Last year my sister contacted me with the news that my aunt’s husband had been moved to a nursing home and that they were in the process of selling her home. When the home was sold I was informed that I would receive nothing. I was upset that my sister went to all the trouble to tell me this, and I went to bed that night perturbed and upset. That night I had a dream about my aunt. She came to me and handed me a check for 20 thousand dollars. The next morning I told my lawyer that I was going to get a check in the mail from my aunt, “Don’t laugh, I am getting a check, just wait and see.” I kept telling anyone and everyone that I was going to get a check from my aunt in the mail.
A few months passed and one day I received a call from my sister to tell me that the will had been probated and that my first cousins were the recipients of most of the inheritance. However I could tell something was up, and she blurted out that she couldn’t keep a secret anymore, that our cousins had decided to honor the original will. In Febuary of 2006 I went out to my mailbox, opened it up, and low and behold there was a check in there for the amount of 21 thousand dollars! I was off by a thousand dollars!!! Now I am working on my ideal job, and publishing my book!
