At twenty-four I was diagnosed with a mysterious, life-threatening heart condition. In fact, I was told that the chances of having this condition were one in a million. I was put on a couple of medications and had a defibrillator implanted in my chest. The thought of death was my daily companion.

Five years later, after a divorce and two failed heart surgeries, I began searching for answers. After watching The Secret and putting it into practice, I began a spiritual journey of discovery to figure out why I had this heart condition. It took a couple of years, but finally, I gained a new appreciation of life and no longer felt the need to harbor this condition. I decided to let it go.

I would tell myself, One day you are going to wake up and discover that you do not need your meds anymore. About six months later, I awoke one morning and threw on my tennis shoes to go to the farmers’ market. I was almost there when I realized I had forgotten to take my heart meds. A voice in my head said clearly, “Today is the day! You don’t need to take them anymore.”

I have not taken any medication since then, and I had the defibrillator removed six months ago.

Initially, the doctors hesitated to remove the device because there was no medical proof of how the condition was reversed, but neither could they find any proof that the condition still existed. They said it was a miracle and that there were no other documented cases of anything like this ever happening.
