My Dream Job
I bought The Secret book and DVD a year back and read and watched for a while. However, I was always doubtful and that was the reason things did not go well. My marriage happened in May 2012. I was in a city named Chennai and wanted to move to another one, Bangalore. From January onwards, I tried searching for different jobs in Bangalore, but nothing worked out.
I went hopeless. All my colleagues got good jobs and I was left with none in Chennai. In fact, I got through several interviews but nothing clicked. I started cursing myself and trust me, it went bad ( Remember LOA?).
My marriage happened and I tried for a transfer to Bangalore. I imagined myself in Bangalore and trusted that it will work out. The transfer happened on September 1st. However, a new problem raised. I was put into continuous night shifts and there was no change. I was not able to spend quality time with my wife. I desperately needed a change.
I took The Secret and read it again. I knew that this is the time. I want a new job, that is also a day shift. I have 5 years of experience and it was not so difficult. Still my past experiences made me think that I wouldn’t get it.
I updated my resume and put it in all the job portals. I contacted all my friends and relatives, and sent my resume to them for referrals. Above all, I started to visualize that I am having a regular day shift job and earning really good. This time, I realized one big mistake that I was doing in the past. I always hated my current job and was never grateful for it. Trust me, this is the one thing that you must understand and practice, if you are looking for a change.
I said thank you several times and became more and more grateful for my current job. Gratitude became a part of my life and it gave me strength. Also, my partner was very much supportive and she also gave me confidence. Things started to move slowly.
I got couple of calls in September first week itself. I decided that I will resign in September itself and imagined the same way. In September second week, a company approached me with a job which was exactly matching with my imagination. I applied and they reverted with interest. I became more confident and grateful and more calls came in. On September 22nd, this company gave me a call and scheduled my first round of interviews on September 24th. I was afraid, but confident. The interview went well. The company was very much satisfied with my experience and knowledge.
As I am writing this today, they called me up again and said that I am shortlisted and they want to meet me to discuss the salary and give the offer. In fact, there were three rounds, but they were so satisfied with me that they made all the decisions in the first round itself. I was literally shocked and hugged my wife, when I heard the news. Moreover, they want me to work in regular day shift 9-6. Everything happened as I imagined and tomorrow I am going to resign!
I feel the part which was missing from my side was gratitude, which can move mountains. Be grateful and feel it. Everything else will happen automatically. Thank you Rhonda for the wonderful Secret. May the joy reach billions!
