When I was 12 years old I went to Walt Disney World with my family. When I was browsing through the stores I found a necklace that said “Dream” on the pendant. On the tag it said to make a wish on the necklace during the “Make a Wish” fireworks show. My mother gladly bought it for me. That night during the fireworks show when Jiminy Cricket said over the loud speakers to make a wish, I did. I wished that one day I would return to Disney with the man of my dreams, and there during that fireworks show he would ask me to be his wife.

Years had passed and I never found a man who took that wish seriously. Eventually me and my best friend for years started dating. Things were so amazing, we moved in together after only 3 months. He had never been out of the province before and I mentioned that we should take a trip to Disney. However, with our current financial situation it seemed virtually impossible. Months passed without any sign that we would be able to go. I started getting discouraged and believed that my childhood wish would never come true.. That’s when I stumbled upon The Secret. It gave me the hope to keep on going. Everyday I told myself “I am going to Disney. My wish will come true!”.

A week later, I was browsing the internet and saw a contest where you could win an all expenses paid trip to Disney. I entered the contest and a week later got a phone call saying that I had won! I was so excited, I started to cry.

The first night at Disney my man and I went to the fireworks show. I told him the spot I wanted to stand but he said he had a better one. Confused, I followed him to where some guards had blocked off a small clearing. He spoke to them and they let us in! While we were watching the show, the music changed and the “when you wish upon a star” song came on… the song I had made my wish years ago. I grabbed on to my necklace (which I’ve worn every day) and looked up at the sky. When I looked down, there my man was.. on his knee holding a box with a ring. I immediately burst into tears. I couldn’t believe my wish had come true.
