Mind Over Matter
In April 2004, an annual pap test revealed abnormal cervical cells. The cells were graded levels 1 through 4, 1 being abnormal…4 were cancerous. My test revealed Grade 3 cells (pre cancerous) and needed to be removed by laser a few months later.
At the time of the test I imagined my cervix, and was upset that the first words that came to mind were “rough”, “dry”, nothing that represented healthy.
So I decided I would work on those thoughts…for the next three months, every time my mind wandered to those negative images (and it went there often) I would turn “rough” into “soft and supple”, “dry” into “moist and healthy”. I refused the negative by replacing it with the positive.
July 2004, the surgery was successful. The Doctor came into the recovery room to tell me that he had removed all of the cells but was surprised to find that they tested at a Grade 2, not 3 as results had shown three months earlier? He questioned the original testing, and told me that Grade 2 cells would not have put me in the surgical room.
I’ll always believe, there was no error in testing, what happened then was mind over matter!!!
