Losing Job Was The Best Thing
Submitted by: Monica Buhler-Zamudio
Burbank, CAI am a mother of two children, married to a wonderful dad and husband. I am an engineer and love what i do. I am grateful every day for the things I have, and for the things that are coming my way.
About three months ago, I started listening to The Secret CDs every day. From day 1, my life started changing, but the best change happened a month ago when I lost my job.
For a few years, I wanted to invest in rental property and to buy a new house for my family, however, having good credit and a steady job was not enough… I still needed to have some cash to put down and to fund my closing costs. My realtor told me that I needed about $8,000 cash available to be able to buy my first house.
I learned in The Secret about changing the numbers on your bank statement to the figure you want to see in your bank account, so, one day, I took a bank account statement and changed the figure to S12,000. I didnt know how, but I knew that soon I would have that amount in my savings account and I would be able to buy my house.
I took the statement, put it to my chest, closed my eyes, and felt grateful for my $12,000 to the point where I almost burst into tears. Also, things at my job were very tense and time was an issue. I was looking for better ways to become more organized, but kept failing. . I was working 10 to 12 hours a day and my employer was beginning to ask me to start working weekends.
A lot of us in the company felt that the company management was taking advantage of the economic situation and using it to demand more and more of us. I was spending less and less time with my family.
About a month later, I was taken to the Human Resources department to be told that due to economic hardship, the company had eliminated my position. As I was being told this, I just felt grateful. I was being grateful for being relieved of so much stress. I was grateful and happy because I was going to have more time with my children.
To my utter surprise, the company gave me some severance pay.
At the end of the day and after taxes, I had about $12,000 in my bank account! In addition, my company provided me with services and $1,000 to find a new job. My priority was to find a job fast, and I knew (like I knew, like I knew) that I would. Let me note that I live in one of the worst employment markets with more than 12% unemployment (4% or less is more desirable) and the possibility of being jobless for up to 3 years.
I found a new job in less than two weeks. This new, family oriented, employer offered me $10,000 more than I was making, plus time paid over 40 hours a week. On top of that, I get every other Friday off!
Now I have a lot of time with my family and the potential to make more money. Banks love that, so I became more attractive to loan officers. Also, while I was unemployed, I used some of the $1000 on a time management class where I learned how to manage my time better and to achieve my goals in life. To this day, I feel more accomplished than ever. I have been able to focus and do things in a month that I could not get done in a year before taking the course. Just as you think its over, my realtor told me that my state offers a $10,000 credit for first-time homeowners who buy in 2010. This amount is perfect to get me started in investing in rental property next year.
Im still manifesting a lot of great things in my life, and yes, sometimes I forget to stay positive, but I get back on track when I meditate and remember to feel grateful and to give whenever I get the inspiration to be generous.
