Lift Up your Hands to God
Submitted by: Maria
Los Angeles, CAWhile waiting for everyone in my household to get ready for the 5:30pm mass, I was playing the piano and while looking for a piano sheet I pulled out Basil Valdez music sheet “Lift Up your Hands”, a Filipino Artist. So I started playing it. I have in the past wished that they would sing this in the church where I go to here in the U.S. but thought that’s not likely.
While playing the song I was still thinking it would be great if the person who played the piano, who I believe is Filipino, would play it and teach one of the choir member to sing the song. And I was thinking that it would be great if the guy who sings during the 8:30am mass would sing that song.
So we went to attend the 5:30am mass and guess what…. they played the song and it happened to be sung by the guy who sings during the 8:30am mass… It brought tears to my eyes and I sang along while everyone around me probably wondered why I knew the lyrics and tune since it’s not in the book and the first time sung in that church.
I think it’s God’s way of telling me to have more faith…
Here’s the lyrics
Lift Up Your Hands
Basil Valdez and C. Azarcon
Life is not all that bad, my friend, hmmm If you believe in yourself If
you believe there’s Someone Who walks through life with you You’ll
never be alone Just learn to reach out, And open your heart Lift up
hands to God, And He’ll show you the way.
And He said, “Cast your burdens upon Me
Those who are heavily laden,
Come to Me, all of you who are tired
Of carrying heavy loads,
For the yoke I will give you is easy
And My burden is light,
Come to Me and I will give you rest.”
When you feel the world
Is tumblin’ down on you,
And you have no one
That you can hold on to,
Just face the rising sun
And you’ll see hope,
And there’s no need to run
Lift up your hands to God,
And He’ll make you feel all right.
