Leaving The Small Town.
Submitted by: Dia
Downers Grove, ILA college student that moved to the other part of the world.
When I read “The Secret” for the first time, I started applying it to my life right away. I did not realize that it changed my life until way later though. I think that it all started when I was 13. I lived in Lithuania and I hated everything that surrounded me. School was really stressful and I constantly got picked on by my peers. My family was okay, but there was a lot tension between us because my parents never really got along.
So after I watched “The Secret”, for some reason I wanted to get out of the small town I lived in and to change my life completely. I never would have thought that I could ever move to a nice city in Lithuania. However, I still wished for it and even had a little picture of the town I wanted to live and my picture close to it.
Eventually some changes started to happen and my parents got divorced. Half a year after my parents divorced, my mom and I finally decided to move to the same city I wanted to live in. Our home became way nicer because there was finally no more tension. I did have some friends and those peers finally stopped picking on me. Furthermore, the classroom was still pretty tense and I felt ignored. Even though I felt this way, I tried to stay as positive as I could be and I often went to Art of Living Yoga practices.
Soon after moving to my dream city, I had an opportunity to move to the United States because my mom finally found someone who she loved over there. I could testify that these last 2 years of high school in America were full of difficulties, but I finally felt like I wasn’t ignored.
I have probably never felt happier in my life thanks to “The Secret”. I could say I have learned that staying positive can get you to where you want to go even if things don’t always look that pretty.
