Believe Instead Of Worry
Submitted by: Dee
Midwest USAWife, mom, grandmother, have a wonderful extended family and friends. Work at a college. Many hobbies.
Knowing my mid-twenties son worked in a hostile environment, I felt compelled one morning to pray for his job situation. It was different this time, since I recently viewed ‘The Secret.’ This focused daily prayer for Dave was not about worry. I asked, believed, rejoiced over what he was yet to receive, and gave thanks for future blessings.
I knew the intent of my prayer was compassionate and honorable. I didn’t have to worry or beg or lose sleep over the situation; as parents often do.
Two weeks later, Dave called and told us his friend mentioned a job opening at the great place he worked and Dave was offered a job on the first interview. When he ‘gave notice’ to his employer (hostile work environment) they told him to leave immediately and the last paycheck was shorted. Dave was thankful for his new opportunity and didn’t get angry at his old employer; as he learned a valuable lesson in positive and negative energy and intentions.
This experience has opened the door to teach my grown children more about wise principles to go along with their personal faith. Something encouraging happened to my daughter since my son’s good news, but that’s another story!
