I know that my story may be long, but it’s actually really cool. The most amazing part of it was that the Law of Attraction was working, even though at the time, I had never heard of the Law of Attraction or watched The Secret.

It started 4 years ago. I took a job at a home improvement company. It was a new store and there weren’t a lot of open positions left. I was offered a job in Millwork. I already had sales experience. How hard could selling doors and windows be, I thought. The company that I work for pays commission.

I was walking with one of the department managers one day right before the store opened. You would think that Millwork would be the perfect department to be in because people could spend thousands of dollars on new doors and windows. He told me that Millwork was not the department you wanted to be in. The “golden” department so to speak was Appliances.

I asked him what was so great about talking about washers and dryers all day. He told me that in a slow economy, people could usually hold off on new doors and windows. However, if your washing machine breaks, you would go out and buy a new one whether you had money for it or not. Appliances also pays a huge commission.

I asked him how you would get into that department. He looked at me, and told me, “You will NEVER work in this department, the waiting list to get in is just too long.”

Oh well, I thought. I was excited about my new job anyways.

Little did I know that I was working in a predominately male oriented field, and my department did not want a woman working in their department. They refused to help me if I had any questions. I was also new, and had no idea how to run the computer system and had no one to turn to in order to ask for help. Because they wouldn’t help me, it seemed as if though everything I did turned out wrong. I kept telling them that if they didn’t tell me what I was doing wrong, then I wouldn’t be able to fix it and I would continue to make the same mistake over and over again. My department didn’t care and they wanted to see me gone.

I knew that I was either going to get transferred to a cashier or end up being fired. I did all I could, and nothing worked. It came to a point where I was so tired of trying to fix the situation. It didn’t matter anyway because everything I did was wrong. I just threw my hands up into the air, and one day said, “Dear Lord Jesus, not my will but yours will be done.” A calm peace came over me and I wasn’t afraid of the fact that I could end up waiting in the unemployment line.

I am not religious and I don’t go to church, but I didn’t know what else to do. Anytime a fearful thought came into my head, I just kept reciting the same bible verse over again.

Then one day, I got called into the office. This was it!! My fate was decided. They told me that they were moving me out of Millwork. Which came as no surprise. The shocking part was that they told me that they were transferring me to Appliances. My mouth dropped as it made no logical sense. With all of the mistakes that I made, why would they transfer me from one high dollar department to another? Fortunately, I decided not to ask them that question though.

I now work in Appliances and have not made a mistake since. I also make huge commission checks too!! Then I saw The Secret. I knew that it worked because I already lived it.
