My brother passed away unexpectedly, earlier this year.

A few weeks ago my niece asked me for an iPhone 5. I told her I would get it for her as a birthday present. I went an ordered the phone and they said it would be about 5 weeks until she received it. Her birthday was in less than 3, so she wouldn’t get it by her birthday.

I told her and she was not upset, and still excited about getting it. But kids are kids and she asked me every couple of days when she would get it.

This was going to be her 13th birthday and the first major event that her dad would not be a part of. My sister in law called me and said her daughter was really upset about this, and said her birthday was “not going to be any good because daddy won’t be there.”

So I really wanted her birthday to be special. A little over a week from her birthday, her phone was still showing on backorder, and everything looked like she wouldn’t get it until at least 2 weeks after her birthday.

I decided to use the The Secret to get her phone by her birthday. I pictured her opening her phone and the smile on her face, I thanked God for her getting it by her birthday.

Then 2 days before her birthday, I got an email that the phone had shipped. She got it the day before her 13th birthday, and was the happiest I had seen her since her Dad passed away.

This was the first time I really followed The Secret.
