“If nothing else… believe in yourself.”
Submitted by: "Business Woman"
South AfricaI reside in South Africa (and, no, not in a mud hut with lions outside my front door). I have my own recruitment agency and am a single mother.
Three and a half years ago I was retrenched, and all I had was about R150.00 (which is about $10), no car, a pay as you go cell phone (not a contract), and no computer. A single mother.
In our country there is very limited public transport, so not having a vehicle means basically, incapacitated! I walked 6 km (which is about 2 miles a day) to the nearest internet cafe to start a business.
I had been in the recruitment industry for about 15 years at that stage. I knew I was good at what I did, and I knew I had extensive knowledge on the industry. I had to believe in ME. I looked at what I had, not what I didn’t have. I had my legs to walk, I had the knowledge I had gained, and more importantly, I had the determination.
I never knew then that I was living the Secret.
Amidst great adversity, I built a little business. I needed a car to see clients and knew I was going to get one. I woke up every day looking at the empty garage, and cleaned it up to make space for my new car. I knew I was going to have a car to put in that garage. I visualised it daily. My son, who was 22 years old then, bought me a brand new car. I was so overcome by emotion, and just focused on making enough money to pay him back. Within 3 months of operating my business, I was able to pay him back.
I focused on getting clients and I did. Fast and furiously. I was then able to get a contract cell phone, bought computers and a lap top, and established my business.
During this time I have had my business sabotaged about 5 times!! I had a partner that stole all my money, I had a boyfriend that stole all my business files and documents, I had someone that put a virus on my computer and I lost ALL my information. As ‘fate’ would have it, I watched an Oprah Winfrey show where they said, “Mediocrity attacks success.” I knew then that the people that ‘attempted’ to drown me only proved that I am doing darn well! The fact that people would go to such great lengths to try to sabotage me showed I was going places! It never affected me. I just picked up the pieces and carried on.
Christmas 2007 my son bought me The Secret. Wow! To think that I had applied it all WITHOUT realising it was inconceivable. I had ‘intent’, desire, visualisation, and most importantly faith in myself, my abilities, and faith in me!
However I still learnt so much from the book and am still learning. There are many other areas that I am working on, and several other goals and desires. I have put up my vision board. I get people to ‘agree’ with me in my goals (the Bible says, “Where two or more agree on earth, it shall be done for you in Heaven…”). They have to touch it and agree out loud. That way I gain more positive energy, going out collectively, to bring in my desires and my goals. God also says, “I will give you the desires of your heart”. Your HEART – that is where the full intent comes from. Your heart. That unfailing belief and determination within you!
Three and a half years later I am still going strong in my business and have opened up another branch. Can you believe it??? Yes!
If you battle with believing in the Universe or God, then just believe in yourself. It is the same energies, the same law of attraction, it will happen.
I hope this story inspires others to do what they truly desire, to never give up against great adversity, and to have courage and determination to ‘keep on keeping on’.
God Bless and keep the faith!
