I will start with the punch line; I received my first positive pregnancy test from the doctor today!!!

After months of fertility treatments my wish to become a mother and someday a grandmother is coming true!!

I first read The Secret five years ago and immediately began to reflect on my past which made me realize that there were many times in my life that I had unknowingly used these concepts. For example, in high school I was told not to apply to private universities since I had no money for education and would not be able to afford it. I believed in myself, applied anyway, received a scholarship and qualified for loans. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made considering my level of success at a young age and my level of income which allows me to afford my loans with no problem and afford my fertility treatment.

As a child, I loved and adored twins. I would read books about them, get excited to see twins in public, and would ask crazy questions on the rare occasion that I got to meet twins. As I grew up, I somewhat forgot about this mild obsession.

When my husband and I found out we would have to seek treatment in order to start our family. I felt extremely sad for us. An expensive and invasive treatment was not how I pictured conceiving. As we started the process it was brought to my attention that there was a greater chance of multiples and I was asked if I was OK with that. As I thought about it, the idea of twins came rushing back to me from my childhood. I didn’t count on it, but if it happened, I let the doctor know it would be OK with us. I privately thought to myself, wouldn’t it be nice to have a boy and a girl and not have to go through this process ever again. Could this be happening for a reason?

IVF is a process that will break you down mentally and emotionally. During this time I relied on what I had learned in The Secret and the practices from The Magic to stay positive and keep going. In the end we had 4 fertilized embryos which we decided to have genetically tested. Of them, 1 was abnormal, 1 was inconclusive, but 2 were perfect. I asked for the sex but should have known: 1 boy and 1 girl! We had them transferred 2 weeks ago.

Like I said, my wish is coming true. The next test is in 2 days to confirm the pregnancy. A week after that we will have the ultrasound to determine if we are having 1 or 2. I already know the results of these tests and am so grateful to be starting my family.

So there you have it:
I made a wish and two came true!
April 2016 these twins are due!
