I know it works. Here’s why:

OhioI wanted to go to college more than anything. My home life was okay but I truly wanted to get away and do more than just have a 9 to 5 job, but my parents were not supportive. There was no money for me to go to school and no moral support to help guide me. No one in my family had attended college. So–because my parents balked at signing the permission form for me to change my course of high school study to college preparatory, I forged their names and did it myself. I filed the financial aid applications myself and I decided which college to attend myself. The thing is…I had no idea HOW I was going to do it; I just knew I had to do it. So I did. It took several years of working and study–certainly longer than the usual 4 or 5 years a normal student takes. But I did it. And this was 1986–long before I ever heard of The Secret.
Then I married and something strange happened. After I had my kids, I started putting everyone’s needs before my own. It is an all-too-common situation for mothers. My husband, a very good dad and decent provider, did not do that. He kept his dreams alive. For example–for years he wanted a boat. I kept telling him we couldn’t afford a boat. He ignored me. We have a boat and I love it. We had taken a job several hours from our home and didn’t like the area. My husband, on faith alone, moved us back home and drove 2 hours each way to and from work every day. Within a year, he was transferred back here. Looking back, I see that by moving us home, he set the cosmic wheels in motion to facilitate the job relocation. And my husband is a blue-collar worker. Job transfers aren’t common in this type of work. Yet he was miraculously transferred.
It was within the last year, now that my kids are beginning to forge their own lives, that I look at this and see how the puzzle pieces fit. My husband ignored the naysayers and planned for the life he wanted. For the most part, he got it. I, on the other hand, became a reactor. I adapted to situations that presented themselves to me. Where was that courageous young woman who struck out on her own against the admonitions of her family and made it work? I am determined to find her again.
Looking back, I know The Secret works because I have seen it. It worked for me when I was young. It has worked for my husband throughout his life. If you have a clear goal and can turn off the negativity in your life and in your own mind, the sky is the limit for you.
