First off, I’d like to give a great big thanks to Rhonda and The Secret Team, God, and all things great in the Universe. Thank you.
Mid January I tore my achilles due to a freak accident and I thought that for sure that would tear my world apart. I’m also in a sorority and I missed out on various opportunities to bond with my sisters these past couple of months. A couple days ago, my spring break was about to end and the chapter president sent out an email saying that whoever was interested in running for Vice President of Philanthropy should contact her by Sunday night, take note this day was Friday. Saturday morning, I reached out to her to let her know I was interested but it wasn’t until Monday that the real Magic began.
VP Philanthropy is a position that I’ve wanted for months, it was my dream to be elected VP Phil. It mostly has to do with community service and volunteer work which is something that I am extremely passionate about. That Monday afternoon I sat down to write my 2 minute speech. There were 2 other girls running against me but I just pushed the nerves aside and started gathering my information. I spent 3 hours looking up volunteer work for the Chapter to do and I started envisioning the girls paying visits to the homeless, volunteering at the Food Bank, etc. I structured my speech to capture my passion and enthusiasm for this position and once I rehearsed it several times, I let myself relax and went on with my day.
That night, it turns out that one of the girls dropped out of the election! This made things even easier and it was so unexpected but it was The Secret making things easier for me! As I started my speech, my voice was trembling but I simply powered through and tried to hit my bullet points and express my commitment to the crowd.
After the voting was over, my competitor and I were allowed back in the room, and then my name was called out as the winner!
I’ve never felt so happy, accomplished and prideful of such an event.
I was a little worried that because I hadn’t spent time bonding with my sisters due to my injury for the past couple of months, they would pick the other girl since she was more familiar territory. But thanks to The Secret, I just believed that everything would be okay and that I would win, but if I didn’t I would be happy and grateful no matter the outcome! It worked and I’m very proud and thankful to say that I am now the new VP of Philanthropy.
